26 Held for Allegedly Gambling at Resort in Perdoor

26 Held for Allegedly Gambling at Resort in Perdoor

Udupi: The Hiriyadka Police arrested 26 persons for allegedly gambling by playing the card game Andar Bahar in a room at the Swarna Green Valley Resort in Puttige, Perdoor village, on the night of July 7.

The arrested accused have been identified as Satish (49) of Uliyaragoli, Akshay (31) of Moodbidri, Lohith, Dinesh of Kapu, Madhava Poojary of Belapu, Prashanth of Kapu, Akshay, Dinesh, Bharat, Arun, Roshan, Yadav, Ranjith, Manish, Prithvin, Shiva, Deepak, Krishna, Vithesh, Charan, Santosh of Kanajara, Shiva of Uchila, Abdul Hameed of Shirva, Haroon, Ashok of Udupi, and Shailesh.

Police seized Rs 1,31,630 in cash, 25 mobile phones valued at approximately Rs 16.50 lakh, five cars, and three motorcycles from the accused. A case has been registered at the Hiriyadka Police Station.

Police also stated that steps would be initiated to cancel the licence of Swarna Green Valley Resort, Puttige, in connection with the incident.

The raid was conducted under the directions of Udupi Deputy Superintendent of Police Belliyappa K. and In-charge Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Prasad. The operation was led by Brahmavar Circle Inspector Gopikrishna, along with Hiriyadka Police Station Sub-Inspectors Puneeth Kumar and Vitthal Malavadkar. They were assisted by police personnel Praveen Rai, Praveen Shetty, Yatheesh, Krishna Poojary, Ullas, Channesha, Karthik, and driver Shantharam Shetty.
