3 held for Reopening Sealed Skill Game Centre at Falnir

Mangaluru: Three persons have been arrested in connection with the reopening of the Skill game center which was sealed by the MCC for not obtaining a trade license on July 14.

The arrested have been identified as Jayanth Shetty, Abdul Basheer and Shivanand.

On July 11, Mayor Kavitha along with Health Officer Manjayya Shetty, Karunakar, Yashwanth and Shushanth raided the illegal massage centres and Skill game centers. When Members Lounge was raided at Falnir there were more than 50 members who were involved in gambling. During the raid, all the members fled from the spot.

When Mayor inquired about the trade license the in-charge, a woman who was present in the Skill game centre said, “I do not need any trade license to run the centre, we have a court order. We are dealing this issue with the police department, how MCC can stop our business?”

When the woman in the centre refused to show the trade license Mayor Kavitha informed the Pandeshwar police and with the help of the police the MCC officials sealed the centre. But on the same night, the lock was broken and the centre was reopened by the owner.

The MCC official filed a case against the owner of the center, director and the staff in the Pandeshwar police station. The Pandeshwar police filed a case under section 143, 147, 353, 448, 427 and 149 IPC.

In this connection, the Pandeshwar police arrested three persons and produced them before the court, where they were given bail.
