47th All India Major Ports Volleyball and 21st Beach Volleyball Tournaments Conclude at NMPA

47th All India Major Ports Volleyball and 21st Beach Volleyball Tournaments Conclude at NMPA

Mangaluru: The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) successfully hosted the 47th All India Major Ports Volleyball Tournament and the 21st Beach Volleyball Tournament, concluding on March 27, 2026, at the NMPA Sports Complex, Panambur. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from ten major ports across India, demonstrating remarkable sportsmanship, teamwork, and a competitive spirit among all participating teams.

In the Volleyball Tournament, the Cochin Port Authority emerged as champions, securing a hard-fought victory against the New Mangalore Port Authority with a score of 3–1 in a closely contested match. NMPA secured the runners-up position. V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority claimed third place, defeating Chennai Port Authority in straight sets, 2–0.

The Beach Volleyball Tournament saw V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority clinched the championship title against Cochin Port Authority with a score of 2-0. The final match was marked by an unfortunate incident when a player from V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority sustained an injury, rendering them unable to continue. At the time of the incident, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority was leading with scores of 21–17 in the first set and 8–3 in the second set. In a display of commendable sportsmanship, Cochin Port conceded the final, and V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority was declared the winner. Chennai Port Authority secured third place in the Beach Volleyball Tournament, prevailing against NMPA.
The valedictory function was presided over by Smt. S. Shanthi, Deputy Chairperson of NMPA, distributed prizes to the winners and extended her congratulations to all participating teams for their exceptional performances. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri Padmanabhachar K., Chief Vigilance Officer of NMPA, Capt. Manoj Joshi, Deputy Conservator & President of NMPSC, along with Heads of Departments and senior officers of the Port.

Capt. Manoj Joshi, President of NMPSC, welcomed the gathering, and Smt. S. Shanthi delivered a speech congratulating the winning teams and expressing her appreciation for the spirited participation and sportsmanship demonstrated by all participants. Shri Gladstone, General Secretary of NMPSC, delivered the vote of thanks.

The tournament served as a platform to strengthen camaraderie among Major Ports and underscored the significance of sports in fostering teamwork, discipline, and unity within the maritime community. The event’s success reinforces the commitment of the participating ports to promoting sports and healthy competition among their employees.
