519 Covid discharges outnumber 442 cases in Karnataka
 

Bengaluru: As many as 519 Covid patient discharges have outnumbered 442 infections in Karnataka even as the state’s tally rose to 10,560, an official said on Thursday.

“New cases reported from Wednesday 5 p.m. to Thursday 5 p.m. are 442,” said a health official.

With 519 discharges, total number of discharges rose to 6,670.

Continuing the daily trend of contacts of earlier cases outnumbering domestic returnees in infections, 196 or 44 per cent such cases have emerged. Of the new cases, 81 or 18 per cent had domestic travel history.

Likewise, 23 cases had international travel history to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Sharjah, Oman and Qatar, including one case to Europe.

On Thursday, cases spiked in Bengaluru Urban, Kalaburagi, Ramanagara, Daskshina Kannada, Ballari, Dharwad, Mysuru, Bagalkote, Kodagu, Udupi, Hassan, Bengaluru Rural, Uttara Kannada, Vijayapura, Gadag, Haveri, Mandya, Bidar and Davangere.

Among the new cases, Bengaluru Urban accounted for 113, followed by Kalaburagi (35), Ramanagara (33), Dakshina Kannada (29), Ballari and Dharwad (26 each), Mysuru (22), Bagalkote and Kodagu (18 each), Udupi (14), Hassan and Bengaluru Rural (12 each)

Uttara Kannada (11), Vijayapura, Gadag and Haveri (10 each), Mandya (9), Bidar (8), Davangere (7), Belagavi, Shivamogga and Kolar (4 each), Yadgir and Chikkaballapura (2 each) and Tumkur, Chikkamagalur and Chamarajanagar (1 each).

As many 87 patients are suffering from Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and 11 from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).

In all, 5.5 lakh samples have been tested so far, of which 5.2 lakh tested negative.

Of the total 170 deaths, Bengaluru Urban has accounted for 78 deaths, followed by Bidar (15), Kalaburagi (14) and Dakshina Kannada and Ballari (8 each), among others.
