56-year-old Man Commits Suicide over Coronavirus Scare at Uppoor

56-year-old Man Commits Suicide over Coronavirus Scare at Uppoor

Udupi: A-56-year-old man committed suicide fearing coronavirus scare at Narnadu near Uppoor under the Brahmavar Police Station limits on March 25.

The deceased has been identified as Gopalkrishna Madivala (56) resident of Uppoor near Brahmavar.

According to sources Gopalkrishna was working as a KSRTC Bus driving trainer in the Udupi Depot. On Wednesday, March 25, early morning, he wrote a death note assuming that he was infected with the coronavirus and committed suicide by hanging himself to a tree. But the family members have reported to the police that Gopalkrishna was suffering from depression syndrome.

The Brahmavar Police have visited the spot and sent the dead body to Manipal Hospital for post mortem.

The district administration is yet to confirm whether he was infected with Covid-19.
