80 NSUI members to Tender Resignation in Support of Mithun

Mangaluru: “As many as 80 members of NSUI will tender their resignation to the District Congress Committee President for denying the ticket to District youth Congress President Mithun Rai to contest the Assembly elections. Today if the youth Congress has a strong base in the entire district then it is because of Mithun Rai. Mithun Rai is our leader and he has helped our organization to grow and flourish in the district. Mithun Rai is our role model and he is the only person who has stood with us and in this critical time we will stand with him and resign to our posts”, said the state General Secretary of NSUI Roopesh Rai in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on April 18.

Addressing the mediapersons Roopesh said, “We have still to grow in NSUI as leaders. Today we are disappointed to know that a leader who started his carrier from NSUI is denied the ticket from the party for the upcoming elections. We all thought that it is a moral victory if our leader would have represented the students and the youth in the Karnataka assembly, unfortunately, this time the Congress party has denied the ticket for the youth aspirant. We request the party to kindly reconsider the decision and consider Mithun as the candidate by giving him the ticket to contest from the Mulku- Moodbidri Constituency.”

Roopesh further said, “From the past two days we are trying to contact Mithun Rai but is not reachable. We have also contacted the Youth Congress leaders regarding this issue. We are waiting for Mithun’s decision. Today we are meeting the DCC President Harish Kumar to tender resignation to our posts. We will stand with Mithun Rai and decide on further steps after consulting him. We will continue working for the Congress Party as party workers.”

NSUI members Abhishek Ullal, Blossom, Suman Shetty, Sachin Kulai, Joshua, Nazran and Sawad Sullia were also present.
