Abhaya Prepared to Quit Post for Party’s Sake

Ballari: The Congress high command and state party leaders are making serious efforts to rebuild and rejuvenate the party ahead of the 2018 assembly elections.

They have felt that the image of the government has taken a serious beating on account of some developments and episodes. Hence, a revamping of the state cabinet is likely within days. About seven or eight ministers are likely to be dropped and drafted to party’s organisational work. This would give an opportunity to some fresh and young faces to prove their worth in the ministerial berths.

Some ministers like Vinay Kumar Sorake and U T Khader, their efficient job in their portfolios apart, have already stated that it was up to the party high command and the chief minister to decide who should be in the cabinet and were prepared to quit if asked to make way for others.

The latest to join the list is the minister of youth empowerment and sports K Abhayachandra Jain. Speaking to mediapersons in Hagari Bommanahalli in the district, he said that a reshuffle in the cabinet was necessary in the interests of the party. Hence, the CM had planned to revamp the cabinet. If asked to quit, he would willingly do so, he said.

He added that there was an indication that seven and eight ministers would be dropped and his name too featured among them.

He asserted that he was mentally prepared for it and would quit anytime if and when asked to do.
