Adyapady Drowning Victims’ Mother Now All Alone

Mangaluru: Baby, the mother of Sandeep (28) and Sandesh (26), of Shivanagara in Moodushedde, is a totally shattered person, both financially and emotionally.

She has had three children. The eldest is a daughter and has been given in marriage. The two sons were a support to the family, working as a painter and an electrician. The cruel fate snatched them away at the dam built across river Phalguni at Adyapady on Thursday, on which day a total bandh was being observed.

The brothers, accompanied by a colleague, Jagadish from Pumpwell, went over to the dam area to pick clams. As Jagadish waited on the bank, the brothers went into the water. Deep pits are said to have been created because of extraction of sand from the river. Unable to gauge the depth of water, they both drowned.

A search operation was launched after the arrival of Kavoor police, assisted by the Bajpe police and the fire brigade. The operation was suspended when it got dark. It was resumed in the morning and both the bodies were extricated from the river.

The mother of the two sons, who has been managing the family, has been rendered alone. Besides being afflicted with grief, she has lost the support of the two sons also.
