After our Padayatra Local MP Submits Memorandum to Gadkari – Ramanth Rai

Mangaluru: “For three days we the Congress leaders and party workers held a Padayatra from Nelyadi demanding the completion of the National Highway work from Hassan – Gundya – B C Road with the slogan “Complete National Highway and Save Lives”. It is sad to know that after our Padayatra our local MP woke up from deep slumber and has submitted a memorandum to Minister Nitin Gadkari to complete the NH 75 work from Hassan – Gundya – B C Road. Our MP is not aware of what is happening his constituency, he was not aware that NH work had stopped from the from past 8 months. When we announced that we were holding the Padayatra in regard to the NH work, he suddenly woke up from deep slumber”, said the former district minister in-charge Ramanath Rai in a press meet held at the DCC office here on January 18.

Addressing the media persons Ramanath Rai said, “When I was the minister I worked for the development of the district. For constructing the DC office in Padil there was a land dispute and it was delayed for two years. But I succeeded in solving the land issue and started the construction work. When we held the Padayatra to demand the completion of the NH 75 work, the opposition criticised and spread rumours that we are doing it since the elections are nearing. Why are the elected members not showing any interest in the development work? The Elected members do not even know when the NH 75 road work had stopped. In Addahole land was acquired and the state government had paid Rs 150 crores to the landowners.”

Ramanath Rai further said, “MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is blaming Veerappa Moily for the merging of Vijaya Bank with the Bank of Baroda. Nalin Kumar should apologise for blaming Veerappa Moily. Veerappa Moily has contributed a lot for the country and Karnataka. Nalin should understand the facts before commenting.”

Ramanath Rai also said, “The 7 fishermen have gone missing since December 15, but our elected members are not putting any efforts in tracing them. This is a national issue.”

When asked about the students being forcibly brought to take part in the Padayatra, Rai said, “We did not invite or force any students to take part in the Padayatra. Even our party workers did not ask any of the students to participate in the Padayatra. But when the BJP recently held a procession students were made to take part in it.”

Former Mayors Sashidhar Shetty, Kavitha Sanil, Kodijal Ibrahim, Naveen D’Souza, Saleem, Khalid Ujire, Baby Kundar and Mamatha Gatti were also present.
