the day dawned brightly slightly different distinct disparate comrade
salute respect and admiration bestowed on two senior police officers
grain of inspiration insight innovative plan ignited the mind voicers

Married at 14 & mother of two daughters at 18 not all sunshine roses
decided to become an IPS officer hadn’t even passed class 10th exams
grit and determination is beyond inspiring she didn’t let this fact scare
courage to rise and shine took her destiny strived hard to make it wear

Failure after failures failed her exams not once but thrice not to lose hope
husband wanted her to return after 3 failed attempts but one last envelope
2008 fourth attempt passed the UPSC Civil Service examination with valour
in Maharashtra is currently the Deputy Commissioner of Police in tricolours

Ambika’s journey a beacon light to many women to ascend mount Everest
though she was a victim of child marriage victor in dedicated life at her best
blind system not a lame excuse fought to reform the structure see sun to rise
critique not the past do the rest hope for the best flowers bloom vision arise

Ambika is the DCP of Zone-4 in Mumbai and is popularly known as the ‘Lady Singham’ of Mumbai. She is Lokmat Maharashtrian of the year
