Anupama Shenoy Calls on Dropped Minister!

Bengaluru: By now there has been a feeling in the political circles that former Kudligi deputy superintendent of police Anupama Shenoy, who had earned wide sympathy and support after her resignation, is now known for unpredictable actions.

In the first place, she had submitted her resignation and handed to a subordinate instead of her superiors. Then she remained beyond reach for a few days.

Mysterious posts in her name began appearing in Facebook, which also contained veiled threats to release damaging material against a minister.

She arrived in Kudligi, vacated her official accommodation and left without meeting the SP, contrary to an earlier assurance. Speaking to the media, she first said that the Facebook account was indeed hers and made a flipflop saying that she never had any Facebook access. Her Facebook posts had blamed the media for adverse reporting.

During the later days, she told the media that she would meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi to explain the injustice meted out to her. It is not known if she actually did so but it was widely regarded as a childish step instead of complaining through departmental channels.

Once having resigned in a huff and refused to see any police officers in Kudligi, she later complained that her resignation was accepted in a hurry.

In the Facebook posts and while speaking to the media, she had blamed minister P T Parameshwar Naik of harassing her. But her latest statements do not hold him fully responsible.

In the meantime, there were wild rumours that she was being groomed to be the future assembly candidate of the BJP from Udupi. On different occasions, she has given conflicting statements on her possible political outings.

Nothing was recently heard from her or about her. After a lull for a few days, Anupama suddenly appeared at the residence of Congress leader and former minister Srinivas Prasad located on Sankey Road in the city on Thursday and created quite a stir in the political and media circles.

In ordinary circumstances, it would not have caught any attention. It was the timing of the visit which has evoked a lot of curiosity. It is thought to be part of a long-term strategy.

Prasad had just been dropped from the state cabinet. What role Anupama had to play in the internal matters of the Congress party is anybody’s guess.

But she is said to have told Prasad that Parameshwar Naik had committed irregularities solely because he had the support of CM Siddaramaiah.

Hence she reportedly told him that she was in agreement with Prasad’s intention of changing the CM and also assured him of her full support to such a move. She is also said to have sympathized with him on his being dropped from the cabinet all of a sudden.

In reciprocation, Prasad is said to have told her that in her case too the resignation was accepted in a hurry and personally he was against it.

While walking out of the house, she declined to speak to the mediapersons. It will be interesting to see how the partymen would view this development. Whether Prasad will be questioned for entertaining an outsider’s interference in the party matters is not known.

Anupama’s next moves are also being watched with a lot of interest.
