Army personnel, families mark ‘International Yoga Day’ with mass session in Vadodara

Vadodara:  Indian Army personnel and their family members participated in a yoga session at the EME school in Gujarat’s Vadodara on Sunday to mark the 12th International Yoga Day, joining nationwide celebrations focused on health, fitness and well-being.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from serving personnel and their families, who performed various yoga postures and breathing exercises as part of the organised session.

The programme formed part of the wider observance of International Yoga Day, which this year is being celebrated under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.

According to organisers, the session highlighted the role of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental resilience and inner balance.

Participants gathered at the military establishment to take part in the collective practice, reflecting the emphasis placed on holistic wellness within the armed forces community.

The event also highlighted the importance of maintaining a disciplined and healthy lifestyle, values that are closely associated with military service.

By involving family members alongside soldiers, the programme sought to encourage wellness practices beyond the workplace and into everyday life.

International Yoga Day has become a significant annual event across the country since its inception in 2015, with participation from government institutions, educational establishments, security forces and community organisations.

This year, yoga sessions were organised at hundreds of locations across Gujarat and thousands of venues nationwide.

The programme at EME School in Vadodara, the Indian Army’s premier training institution for the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers, was among several events held across the state on Sunday, bringing together people from different walks of life to promote the benefits of yoga.

Through collective participation, the event reinforced the message that regular yoga practice can contribute to physical health, mental well-being and a balanced lifestyle.

As celebrations of the 12th International Yoga Day continued across the country, the participation of Army personnel and their families in Vadodara reflected the armed forces’ continued commitment to fitness, resilience and overall well-being.
