Assault attempt on Kundpaur AC and Woman IAS Probationary officer, 2 Held
Kundapur: Two persons have been arrested by the Kundapur Police for attempting to assault the Kundapur Assistant Commissioner and IAS Probationary official performing election duty on April 9 late night.
According to the SP Laxman Nimbaragi, on Monday night the Kundapur Assistant commissioner Bhoobalan and IAS Probationary officer, also the district Nodal officer for Election Poovitha and their team where on duty checking on the model code of conduct violation in Kundpaur. Following a complaint by the public that liquor was being sold illegally in the hotel, the team along with Excise DC Neeru Nandan visited the private Hotel in Koteshwar.
When the team started to videograph the proceedings inside the hotel, the customers objected to it. This led to a heated argument and the hotel owner and a customer objected the official’s video graphing the proceedings. The hotel owner then pulled the Assistant commissioner’s gunman and prevented the officials from discharging their duty. Immediately the officials’ informed to Kundapur Police who rushed to the spot and arrested Hotel owner Surendra Shetty and another customer Mahesh Acharaya.
The Kundapur Police have registered a criminal case under sections of Indian Penal Code, including 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty).
