Assembly Elections Between Dictatorship and Democracy, Divisive and Uniting Forces – Ivan

Mangaluru: “On April 15, for the first time in the history of Karnataka, the list of 218 candidates for the forthcoming assembly elections was released. All the candidates are prepared to contest the elections to be held on May 12. The Congress party has taken the elections seriously and is working on all levels, this election is between Dictatorship and Democracy, the ugly rich and poor and between the divisive forces and uniting forces. Rahul Gandhi represents Light, Amit Shah and Narendra Modi represent Darkness”, said the Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza in a press meet held at the DCC office here on April 16.

Addressing the mediapersons Ivan said, “During the last elections, in Dakshina Kannada, we had won in 7 constituencies but in the forthcoming elections we are confident of winning all the 8 constituencies. Last time Dr Raghu lost by a margin of a few votes. Under the able leadership of Siddaramaiah, Mallikarjuna Kharge, Dr Parameshwar and Veerappa Moily, the list of candidates have been announced. This time all the sitting MLAs have been given the chance to contest the elections. There will be some differences which are common in every party but we the party workers will unitedly work for the party’s success in the elections. The Congress will surely win more than 130 to 140 seats in the state and come to power.”

Ivan D’Souza further said, “In Dakshina Kannada, the sitting MLAs have been given the ticket and in Udupi, there is a new face Rakesh Malli who has got the ticket to contest from Kundapur. In Sullia in the last elections Dr Raghu lost with a margin of a few votes, this time too he has been given the chance to contest the elections. From the past one year, we are working from the Booth level to win the elections. We have formed committees at every booth-level and visited every house through the Mane Manege Congress campaign. During our visit to the houses, the majority of the people have shown their willingness to support our party, because whatever our government had promised in the election manifesto we have fulfilled all the promises. We have also provided a corrupt free governance and carried out a lot of development work in the state.”

Former Mayor Jacintha Alfred, Pratibha Kulai and others were also present.
