Aussie Author to Interact with Kids at CFAL-ELC

Ken Spillman, an Australian writer based in Perth, Western Australia, who has written various books have children and young adults as his reader base. The diversity of his work includes fiction, non-fiction, poetry, literary criticism and sports writing. He is also known to play an active role in supporting foundations and working with disadvantaged children. He has also interacted with children served by such foundations in a number of cities in India and Malaysia. Now, children of Mangaluru will have a great opportunity to meet Ken, when he comes down to this “Education Hub”, for a workshop at Centre For Advanced Learning (CFAL) and Early Learning Centre (ELC).

Mangaluru: Speaking to Mangalorean.com, Severine Rosario-Principal of CFAL and Sonia Moras-Principal of ELC said, ” At CFAL and ELC, we always encourage children to read and develop the traits of self-learning. To further this cause, we are conducting a one-of-a-kind book reading/ story-telling session this Sunday, 31 July 2016. Ken Spillman, a famous Australian author who has written over 35 books spanning many genres will be reading two of his books ‘Advaita- the writer’ and ‘Clumsy’ and will then hand over autographed copies of his books to children. Besides the workshop on Sunday, he will also be doing a reading session at a local Government school in Mangaluru.”.

They further said, “An entertaining and inspiring speaker, Ken has presented sessions to tens of thousands of school children in Australia, India, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Oman, Philippines and Singapore. Two workshops will be conducted for the children based on their age groups. The younger group (ages 5 to 9) will be read the book ‘Clumsy’ which narrates the story of a young girl who expresses herself through her paintings. The other workshop (ages 10 to early teens) will read about ‘Advaita- the writer’, a story of a girl whose passion is to become a writer. The children of ages 5 up to early teens will be read stories from the books and will have activities based on the books which will help them discover their imaginative side through reading”.

The cost of registering is Rs. 200 and will include the book read as well as a snack. Ken Spillman will be individually autographing every single copy that is handed over to the children or the parents. Besides, children will be given snacks made from organic ingredients. Reading and healthy eating- a wonderfully enriching way for children to spend a Sunday morning!
