BD activists should be arrested in Kallappa Suicide Case – Ivan D’Souza
Mangaluru: The DK district Congress Committee handed over a memorandum to the Home Minister through the Inspector General of Police Western Range J Arun Chakravarthy at the IG’s office here, on July 23.
Congress party workers led by Chief Whip of Karnataka Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza and other leaders met the IGP in connection with the recent suicide of DySP Kallappa Handibag and demanded action against those who were responsible for his death. Speaking to the mediapersons, Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza said that Bajrang Dal activists were directly responsible for the suicide of Chikkamagaluru DySP, Kallappa Handibag. “There are allegations of the direct involvement of the former minister and MLA of Chikkamagaluru but no action has been taken against the culprits. The main accused Praveen Khandya and his aide Naveen Shetty should be arrested immediately,” said Ivan.
Ivan further said that the district Congress demands the arrest of the main accused in DySP Kallappa suicide case. “Today, we have handed over a memorandum to the home minister Dr G Parameshwar through the Inspector General of Police in this regard.”
He also said, “Bajrang Dal activists are involved in the suicide and the resignation of government officials. This should also be investigated. The Convener of the NaMo brigade Naresh Shenoy and his associates are involved in the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga. In Bantwal, in the Harish Poojary murder case, the members of a Hindu organisation were involved. Such activities create fear in the minds of the people. These activities should be stopped and those who are involved in such crimes should be arrested.”
“The BJP and Sangh Parivar encourage anti-social activities that create communal violence in the society. The government should take strict action against the persons involved in such activities. In the coming days, the Congress party will hold a protest. In the DySP Ganapathi suicide case, BJP is playing dirty politics by encouraging anti-social elements. BJP is directly involved in suicide and resignation cases in the state and they should apologise to the people of the state,” he added.
