Bellevision Bahrain Marks Monti Fest with Devotion, Warmth and Community Spirit
Bahrain: Bellevision Bahrain, under the leadership of President Ivan Sequeira and the guidance of its dedicated committee members, celebrated the Nativity Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary, popularly known as Monti Fest, with deep faith and joyful fellowship at Naatipuram Restaurant on September 10, 2026.

The celebration began at 8:45 p.m. with a warm welcome and an introduction to the significance of Monti Fest by Master of Ceremonies Ashish Menezes. Observed traditionally as the Feast of the Family, Monti Fest holds a special place in the hearts of the Konkani community, as it highlights the enduring values of prayer, unity, gratitude, and familial togetherness. The evening opened with a prayer led by Judith Mendonca, setting a reverent and devotional tone for the programme.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Fr. Roshan Pereira, OFM Cap., the guest priest in Bahrain, and Fr. Vincent Serrao, Assistant Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, Bahrain. Their presence lent spiritual depth and significance to the event, further enriching the devotional atmosphere of the celebration.
In a solemn and graceful procession, the statue of Infant Mother Mary was carried by President Ivan Sequeira and placed on a beautifully decorated altar. The blessed grain from the first harvest was then offered as a symbol of thanksgiving for God’s providence and abundance. Children and members of the community joined in the devotional tribute by showering fresh flowers on Mother Mary, creating a scene filled with colour, reverence, and heartfelt devotion.
Traditional hymns, including Sakkad Sangatha Melyan and Moriyek Hogolsiyan, were rendered with sincerity and devotion, adding a deeply spiritual musical note to the celebration. These cherished hymns reflected the community’s commitment to preserving the sacred traditions associated with Monti Fest.
In his presidential address, Ivan Sequeira extended festive greetings and prayers for blessings to all Bellevision members, their families, well-wishers, and loved ones back home. He wished everyone a happy and blessed feast, while emphasizing the spirit of unity and gratitude that defines the occasion.
Delivering a thoughtful message, Fr. Roshan Pereira, OFM Cap., spoke on the importance of family and the values that strengthen its bonds. His words resonated strongly with the theme of Monti Fest, reminding those present of the need for love, respect, unity, and mutual support within the family. His message was warmly received and added meaningful reflection to the evening’s observances.
Following the religious segment, the traditional Novem, prepared by Veera and Vijay, was served to the gathering. This was followed by juice and a delicious homemade cake baked by Naveen Mendonca, further adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.
The cultural segment of the evening brought liveliness and charm to the celebration. Eliana captivated the audience with a graceful dance performance, while Rony and Riva delighted guests with a melodious duet. A further duet by Riva and Nikitha was equally appreciated, contributing to the programme’s vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
Children were also given a special place in the festivities through a series of fun games conducted by Ashish, including “Bring Something of a Particular Colour” and a tongue-twister contest. The activities brought excitement and laughter to the gathering, with prizes awarded to the winners.
A special highlight of the evening was the celebration of the 23rd wedding anniversary of Bellevision couple Rony and Nirmala Fernandes. The couple marked the occasion by cutting a cake, after which members of the community offered their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for many more years of happiness, love, and togetherness.
The registration desk was managed by Nirmala, while DJ Valentino kept the atmosphere lively with an enjoyable selection of music throughout the evening. The event was beautifully documented by Mario Fernandes and Rony Fernandes, whose photographs captured the spirit and memorable moments of the celebration.
As the programme drew to a close, Rony Pinto delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the priests, committee members, performers, volunteers, sponsors, and all those who contributed their time and efforts to ensure the event’s success.
Guests then enjoyed a sumptuous traditional vegetarian meal served on banana leaves, featuring a variety of delicacies including Vorn and Holige. The children were especially delighted with fresh sugarcane, generously sponsored by Kishore and Sylvia D’Souza, along with Switz Family Cake, sponsored by Xavier Mathias.
The Monti Fest celebration stood as a beautiful expression of faith, family, culture, and fellowship, bringing together the Bellevision Bahrain community in a spirit of devotion and joy while preserving the rich Konkani traditions and cherished customs associated with the feast.
