Beltangady: The family of Abubaqer of Karpadi in Puttila in the taluk is in a deep shock. His family consists of wife, two sons and three daughters.

Abubaqer lived in Saudi Arabia. He was a victim of gunshots fired by unidentified men in Riyadh in October 2014. Ever since, his wife was pressuring their elder son Safan, who also was in Saudi Arabia, not to continue there and instead return home for good.

Apparently with an idea to discuss the matter with his mother and decide the future course of action, he left Riyadh by a flight to Mumbai and landed there on Feb 22 morning.

To the utter shock of the family and friends, Safan is said to have gone missing from the airport soon after landing and collecting his luggage.

When Safan did not arrive by the connecting flight and did not turn up at home, some family members went over to Mumbai to make enquiries. When the airport authorities were contacted, his luggage was found abandoned in the airport itself and was under the custody of the Sahar police station.

The CCTV footage at the airport showed Safan walking away from the airport after landing towards the rickshaw park carrying only with his handbag. This has added to the intrigue of the whole matter. It is not known if he was facing any threat or if the case of disappearance had any link with the murder of his father.

His present whereabouts are not known. Enquiries with all friends and relatives have failed to give any clue.

Anyone having any information about him can contact the nearest police station or the following numbers.
