Belthangady Teacher Commits Suicide During Family Celebration

Belthangady: Ramya, a 33-year-old married teacher, was found dead at her mother’s home in Koyyur on July 12, in what authorities suspect to be a suicide. She was the daughter of Devappa Bangera, a resident of Darkhas in Koyyur village, located in Belthangady taluk.

Ramya had been married to Latish, a resident of Padadka in Koyyur village, for two years before her death. She worked as a teacher at Muguli School in Belthangady. Reports indicate that Ramya had been suffering from an illness and had sought refuge at her mother’s house. Her distress related to this condition is believed to be the primary cause of her suicide. The Belthangady Police Station has registered a case and is currently investigating the incident.

Tragically, this event occurred during a time of family celebration, just two days after the marriage of Ramya’s paternal uncle’s son. A reception was scheduled for July 13, but Ramya’s death has cast a shadow over the family festivities.
