Bengaluru: The CCB and anti-narcotics cell of the city police raided a housing complex by the side of the VII Main in Banashankari II stage in Hosakerehalli here earlier this week.
They found two women being accommodated there for sex trade by three female brokers, Savita (46), Pushpa (32) and Vijaya (45). Pushpa lives in a next house and had taken the raided house on rent for the purpose.
The three women are believed to have lured some small-time film artistes, who are struggling to get a foothold in the filmland, into the trade with promises of quick money in lakhs. They are also said to have procured young girls from distant states to engage them in the same activity, according to police sources.
One of the two film stars rescued (names withheld) had played the leading role in the Tamil movie, ‘Muthal Maanavan’, besides acting in bit-roles in a few Kannada and Tamil movies and serials. The other one had played roles in the Kannada serials ‘Ashwini Nakshatra’ and ‘Baduku’ aired in the TV channels in the state.
