Bengaluru: Multifaceted Author-thinker Dr Vasu Malali (48) Passes away

Bengaluru: Dr Vasu Malali (48), associate professor of history at Bengaluru University, died in Jayadeva Institute here on Tuesday morning.

 

With family roots in Mysuru, she was the daughter of Kannada writer Dr Malali Vasantakumar. He was attending a Kannada literary meet in Shravanabelagola. On hearing the news, he rushed back to Bengaluru.

Dr Vasu had made a name as a historian, author, columnist and film director. Besides authoring a few books, she had also made two short movies, Shastra and Lal Salaam.

She reportedly suffered from cancer. Having developed heart-related problems, she breathed her last on Tuesday.

Her mortal remains were placed at her house in Nagadevanahalli near Bangalore University for some time for public viewing and homage and later taken to Kengeri crematorium for final rites.
