Bengaluru: A series of thefts in three shops in Cottonpet earlier this week raised a lot of curiosity among the business circles.

Immediate residents found the doors of the shops open quite early in the morning. They informed the police, who arrived and asked the owners to come to the spot.

The respective owners checked their wares. Mamata Agency, a shop selling cosmetic goods, had lost Rs 7,000 in cash. To be ‘fair’ enough, the thieves had taken away face cream from the shop.

They stole Rs 10,000 from Riddi Siddhi provision shop. When the police checked the third shop, a pharmacy, real surprise was in store for them. Expensive and life-saving medicines had been left untouched.

But when the thieves spotted Viagra in display, they appear to have grabbed two strips of them and made away immediately without wasting time.

More stock of the blue pills was lying around, besides Rs 30,000 kept ready for payment of school fees by the owner, but the thieves failed to notice all that during their hurried exit.

The police said that they possibly targeted the pharmacy only for the sake of Viagra.

A joke made round that the miscreants, after straining themselves in the act of theft, needed a boost.
