Bhaksar Shetty’s murder another example of Tandoor murder -advocate Shantharam Shetty

Udupi: The Bhaksar Shetty’s murder case is another example of the Tandoor murder which was held 21 years ago. Twenty one years back former Congress youth leader Sushil Kumar Sharma had killed his own wife and destroyed her body in the Tandoor. In 2016 wife of Bhaskar Shetty along with her son and alleged lover killed her own husband and burnt his body performing Homa Kunda. People can call this incident as Homa Kunda murder case in the coming days said, senior advocate Shantharam Shetty.

He was addressing a pressmeet held at Hotel Daina here on Thursday August 11. Referring to the Tandoor murder case Shantharam Shetty said that Sushil Kumar Sharma’s wife Naina Shani was shot dead in their home in 1995 and her body was chopped into pieces and stuffed into a tandoor or open clay oven at a popular restaurant in the heart of Delhi. Policemen patrolling the area saw thick smoke from the tandoor and found her dismembered half-burnt body. Sharma fled, but was arrested a week later.

He further said, “In Bhaskar Shetty’s case his own wife Rajeshwari Shetty and son Navaneeth killed Shetty in his house near Manipal. Then they took the body to the astrologer’s residence in Nandalike, where they burnt it and threw the remains into a river and destroyed the evidence. This type of incident has happened for the first time in the history of Udupi district”.

Shantharam Shetty also alleged that Bhaskar Shetty’s murder was pre-planned. But the police department failed to investigate the case in the right direction. The Police are also trying to weaken the case. In FIR , the police have registered the case under section 302, 201, 120(B), 204 along with 34 IPC. Police have not included relevant sections against the accused which will help them to be freed easily. The police did not pay any attention for the murder case.

The accused were waiting for the transfer of efficient officer Annamalai, when he left Udupi, the accused put their plan into action and murderd Bhaskar Shetty. It was a pre–medicated murder. After the murder, the investigation officer treated the accused like his relatives. Bhaskar Shetty’s murder was carried out for gain. The police declined to register the case when he and the mother-in-law approached the Manipal police. Many people are involved in this murder case. The government should permit the officials to carry out lie-detector test of the accused.

We demand the government to appoint former Superintendent of Police Annamalai as investigation officer in this case. We have loset hopes in the present Investigation officer; We have trust only in Annamalai. There is an option in the law to appoint a police officer from outside the district as IO, But the government should give approval for that. On August 12 Rajeshwari and Navaneeth’s police custody will end and the police will produce them before the court. The police should ask the court for some more day’s In their custody to investigate the case fairly.  “On the demand of the Bunt association and Bhaskar Shetty’s mother Gulabi Shetty myself and my friend advocate Shashikanth Shetty will assist the Public prosecutor in this case”.

Advocate Shashikanth Shetty, Bunts Association Udupi president Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Bhaskar Shetty’s mother Gulabi Shetty, family member Chandrashekar Shetty, Bunt leaders Manohar Shetty, Deviprasad Shetty, Sarvotham Shetty and others were present.

  1. The story created about the disposal of body by Navaneeth is 100% bogus.
Police will never be able find any evidence about the crime from his narrated explanation.
This story was well prepared before the crime.
Until and unless they find the body no one can believe that person is dead.
Who knows Bhaskar shetty may be still alive kept in some undisclosed captivity somewhere.

Police are treating both mother and son with top most dignity. The way in which she presented at the court looks like she must have gone to a beauty parlor just before appearing court.

Ultimately this case is more or less like Sunanda Pushkar’s death. Police will never be able to solve. Both mother and son likely to be free birds in another couple of years
