Bilindar Shines in Kundapur

The movie “BILINDAR” is making waves and has been receiving a roaring response from the movie buffs for many weeks now in Kundapur and the coastal region. Thousands of people are flocking to watch the movie. “Bilindar” in colloquial Kundapra Kannada, is the word expressed for “Goon”. Goons are not necessarily bad people. They are born in the same society, but when they are hard hit by social evils they turn out to be goons and generally they are being misused by the high-handed people for their selfish motives. When goons are given right direction they do become heroes for good reasons. The film has shared the valuable message to the society. The film completely reflects upon social evils in the society and also provides an equal amount of entertainment to the audience.

With his sheer love for Kundapra Kannada, a few years back he initially composed many songs in Kundapra Kannada and released an album titled “Panak Maklu” (crazy kids) which became very popular in Kundapur and the coastal region. Ravi keeps saying that every language has a history of thousands of years and is unique in its own way. Hence, it is our duty to preserve, nurture and carry forward the fabric of this language for future generations. Prima facie with this aim and intention in his mind Ravi has been striving hard in this direction by producing music albums, tracks, movies etc.,

Inspired by the tremendous support and encouragement Ravi received for his first ever Kundapra Kannada music album he decided to produce a movie in Kundapra Kannada involving many youngsters from Basrur and Kundapur region. With his utmost commitment and conviction finally “Gar Gar Mandla” the first ever Kundapra Kannada movie blossomed and touched the silver screen in 2014. This movie was later on screened in many theaters not only in the coastal region but also in Bengaluru, which was well appreciated by thousands of fanfare.

Bilindar is Ravi’s second venture which was just released in Kundapur and has been a huge success running in many theaters for several weeks. Bilindar has been receiving an overwhelming response from the movie buffs who believe that this movie is going to create history, as they feel that this is no less than a full-fledged Sandalwood movie having all the masala, romance, comedy, suspense and full-too entertainment.

Ravi Basrur has not only produced and directed this movie but also played the lead role of “Bhaskar” and his acting is well appreciated by the audience. Shreeja Shetty is the heroine in this movie. Although this is her first movie, she has acted brilliantly and has been immensely loved by the audience. Raghu Pandeshwar’s comedy in the film is really rib-tickling. Other roles played by Madhav Karkada, Pratima Nayak, Swarajya Lakshmi, Prabhakar Kunder were highly impressive.

In the role of villain, “Dubai Sheena” Vijay Basrur’s acting is once again breathtaking. The acting of Chandrashekar Basrur as “Batli Babu” and Om Guru Balkoor, were quite commendable. All the songs in the movie were nicely picturized and have become very popular. The icing on the cake was two songs sung by Sandalwood Power Star Puneeth Raj Kumar and Roaring Star Shree Muruli. The movie is technically brilliant. Sachin Basrur has handled the camera skills, editing, and cinematography department excellently.

  1. Wow, what a review! Waiting to watch ‘Bilindar’ 🙂 Kudos to Ravi Basrur for his multi-dimensional talent. Best wishes & congratulations to Ravi & his entire Team. Hope that there will be subtitles for non-Kannada people to understand the movie better. English subtitles will really help. Also, by when will the movie be uploaded on youtube ?
Thank you Koni Prakash Naik for the detailed review! Kicked to know about Kandapra Kannada language now. The review has really made me excited to watch the movie.

  2. Sometimes I wonder if these regional movies focusing on a very small audience manage to make money to cover production costs at all. I appreciate the passion and risk-taking mindset. But, this may not last very long as Kundapura kannada hardly has any audience outside Kundapura.

  3. Thank you Prarthanaji and Original Pai for taking out time and posting your comments. That itself shows that every small beginning has its own future provided it is systematically nurtured and supported. Ravi Basrur has taken the initiative not to make money, but as his passion for the language through which he intends to promote the art & culture of Kundapura. If more people like Ravi comes forward nothing can stop them walking an extra mile.

Thanks to Mangalorean.com for uploading the article.

Social evils in the society as Mr. Prakash Naik mentioned, are to be eradicated and Mr. Ravi Basrur is educating people in this regard through his means. I wish him and his film “BILINDAR” all success.
I am glad to hear that we may get an opportunity to see this movie in Muscat also.
