BJP Digs Mountain to Catch a Rat, Congress Fulfilled Promises made during Elections – Rai

Mangaluru: “The March 20 visit of AICC President Rahul Gandhi to Mangaluru was very successful. People have supported the Janaashirvad Yatra and participated in large numbers beyond our expectations. Rahul Gandhi will visit the district again in the coming days. Today he is in Mysuru to address the party workers. Whatever we had promised in our election manifesto, we have fulfilled it but BJP failed to fulfil a single promise which they had made during the elections. NDA government led by PM Modi had banned the Rs 500 and 1000 currency notes to eliminate corruption but he did not get more money out of it. He had said of bringing back black money from the Swiss banks in 100 days and credit Rs 15 lakh to the account of each citizen but he failed to keep his promise. It is like BJP digging a mountain to catch a rat”, said the district minister in-charge B Ramanath Rai in a press meet held at the DCC office here on March 24.

Addressing the mediapersons Ramanath Rai said, “Being the Prime minister, Modi is asking the accounts of the state government. Modi is not a King to ask the accounts of every state, he is an elected representative and needs to give the accounts to the people of this country. The Congress leaders were not involved in murder, pub attack or church attack. We are not into politics of enmity, our answer for enmity is with love. On March 20, our party workers have shown their unity and strength and made the Janaashirvad Yatra very successful. We would like to thank the people of Mangaluru, DK and surrounding places for supporting us during the programme.”

When asked about Rahul meeting Janardhan Poojary and if any discussions were held to make Poojary the in-charge for elections, Ramanath Rai said, “I myself had suggested Rahul to meet Janardhan Poojary, visit the Church, Temple and Mosque during his visit to Dakshina Kannada. Appointing anyone as In-charge is the decision of the party high command. Whatever decision the party High command takes we will accept it.”

When asked about Rahul’s speech in Mangaluru Ramanath Rai said, “People were saying that Rahul is not good in delivering speeches but on March 20, Rahul has proved otherwise, he has delivered a very good speech. He is the future prime minister of our country.”

When asked who is the star campaigner for Congress, Ramanath Rai said, “Rahul Gandhi is visiting Dakshina Kannada district again. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is the star campaigner because during his tenure, he has done a lot of development work and fulfilled all the promises made in the manifesto during the elections.”

District Congress Committee president Harish Kumar, Mayor Bhaskar, Ibrahim Kodijal, Kanachur Monu, former Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Sashidhar Hegde, Mamatha Gatti and others were also present.
