BJP should Verify Facts before Accusing MLA Lobo in Fake Voter ID Issue – Kallige Taranath Shetty
Mangaluru: “Recently the BJP leaders in a press conference accused MLA J R Lobo for his hand in creating fake voter IDs. Some of the BJP members had gone to the electoral registration office and recorded the work process there, which is illegal. To apply for the voter ID if the applicant wants to fill the electoral roll for the first time voter or on shifting from one constituency to another they need to fill the form number 6. But the BJP is saying that the Congress leaders are involved in creating fake voter IDs. Those who are born in India and are above 18 years have the right to vote. When Yogish Bhat was the MLA he did not carry out any development work because of which he was sent home by the people in the last elections. Now the BJP is accusing Lobo, why will Lobo create fake IDs? Without any evidence, the BJP is accusing MLA Lobo which the Congress strongly condemns”, said the spokesperson of District Congress Kallige Taranath Shetty in a press meet held at the DCC office here on January 24.
Addressing the mediapersons Kallige Taranath Shetty said, “Form 6 is available for the citizens of the country to exercise their voting rights. An advocate was also present in the BJP press meet and he should have verified the facts and procedures before accusing MLA Lobo. BJP has alleged that students from Kerala are enrolling in Dakshina Kannada for the voter ID. Any citizen of this country has the right to vote. If a student is studying in any other district or state, he/she has the right to vote at the place of their residence during the elections and no one can deny are snatch their voting rights”.
Kallige Taranath also said, “When the elections are nearing the BJP leaders are playing all kinds of games and accusing the Congress leaders”.
Congress spokesperson Vinayraj, Vishwasdas, Saleem, Appi, Praveenchandra Alva, Namitha D Rao and others were also present.
