Black Panther Rescued after Falling into Well while Chasing Dog
Karkala: A black panther, which strayed from the forest into the village and fell into a well at Balahithlu near Hirgana village of Karkala Taluk here on May 8, was later rescued by the forest officials.
The panther accidentally fell into the open well belonging to Rajarama Kadamba.
According to the locals, the panther fell into the well while chasing a dog. At midnight Rajarama’s family members heard a loud sound coming from the well. When the family checked into the well, they noticed a Black Panther in it and immediately informed the forest department officials.
The rescue operation began after a couple of hours. The officials of the forest department spread a net around the well, fixed a cage to it and by using a ladder pulled out the black panther from the well. The panther was later released into the forest.
