Breast Feeding Awareness Programme held at Bajpe

Mangaluru: The Father Muller Salvadore Monteiro Rural Training (FMSMRTC) Center at Bajpe inaugurated the breastfeeding awareness programme on August 1, 2019, at the Koncharu Anganwadi center of Bajpe Village.

Dr Jessy Maria D’Souza, Chief Medical Officer, FMSMRTC, inaugurated the programme. She enlightened the gathering on the importance of breastfeeding. She also emphasized the importance of cleanliness postpartum and the importance of the bonding between the mother and child. She also created awareness on prevention and precautions for Dengue and the treatment modalities available.

The chief guest for the programme was the Gram Panchayath member, Mrs Ayesha who spoke on the significance of mother’s milk to the growth of the child and as an important initiative taken by the government to create such awareness. Regarding the nutritional significance of mother’s milk, which provides balanced nutrition to the child, the mother’s milk has properties of disease prevention and the importance of breastfeeding only for the first six months to the child.

Isabella D’Souza compered the programme. ASHA worker, Nalini and Anganwadi worker, Anganwadi Assistant, Suma, Stree Sangha members, Delson, community health worker and the villagers were present.
