Bunts Associations demand impartial inquiry into Bhaskar Shetty murder

Udupi: The Bunts Associations have demanded an impartial inquiry into the death of Hotelier Bhaskar Shetty’s Kidnap and murder case.

The Buts Associations of Udupi Taluk held an emergency meeting in Ammanni Ramanna Shetty Auditorium Udupi here on August 9.

Speaking on the occasion Jayakar Shetty Indrali president of Bunts Association Udupi said that the death and murder of Bhaksar Shetty are a shameful act to our community and society. It is a black mark on our community. The murder was pre-planned. Bhaskar Shetty’s wife, son and the Astrologer had well planned to murder him for money.

Bhaskar Shetty was missing since July 28 and his mother Gulabi Shetty had filed a missing persons complaint on July 30 in the Manipal Police Station. Gulabi Shetty had stated in the complaint that her son had been kidnapped by Shetty’s wife and son. But Manipal police did not take any action to search Bhaskar Shetty. When Gulabi Shetty’s daughters approached the Bunts association Udupi, the association requested the police to speed up the search operation. Unfortunately, the news of Bhaskar Shetty being murdered appeared on August 6.

The Police department totally failed to handle the case of Bhaskar Shetty. They were working under pressure of money. Day by day the case is taking various turns which shows the negligence of the police. In a recent development the investigation officer was also changed. Karkala ASP Dr Suman is now handling the case. After continuous pressure by the bunts association, Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari and son Navaneeth were taken into custody. After taking them into custody they were being given royal treatment by the police. As per reliable sources money is being used to weaken the case.

Jayakar Shetty also demanded the police to act strictly against accused and due justice should be given to Gulabi Shetty and her family. This incident should be lesson to others, he said.

The Bunts leaders have also demanded anyone to refuse to represent the accused in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case. Bunt Advocate Mattar Rathnakar Hegde is representing accused Rajeshwari Shetty and Navaneeth Shetty.

Many Bunt leaders expressed their opinion and decided to submit a memorandum to the district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj and Venkatesh Deputy commissioner Udupi on August 10 demanding for an impartial inquiry in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case.

Gulabi Shetty mother of Bhaskar Shetty, Chandrashekar Shetty, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Sheela K Shetty, Janani Divakar Shetty, Ravi Shetty, Shambhu Shetty, Kaup Leeladhar Shetty and other many bunt leaders were present.
