Burglars Decamp with Rs 5 lakh worth Gold from House at Shankarapura

Udupi: Burglars targeted the house of a retired teacher and decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh when everyone in the house was fast asleep at Subhasnagar, Shankarapura on April 25 late night. The family members came to know of the theft when they woke up in the morning.

On April 24 evening, Ireen Martis retired teacher of Shankarapura attended a Priestly ordination ceremony and after the function, she came back home and kept her gold ornaments in the cupboard and locked it.

The retired teacher from Shankarapura – Ireen Martis had gone for a Priestly ordination ceremony on April 24 evening. After returning home, she kept the ornaments inside the cupboard and locked it.

On April 25 night, burglars entered the house through the roof removing the tiles and decamped with the gold ornaments. It is suspected that those close to the family might have committed this crime.

A complaint has been registered in the Shirva Police Station.
