Speaking to the mediapersons the Health minister said, “I will attend a programme in Kasargod and return to meet the press and answer any queries from the journalists since it is only through the press that I can reach all the people in the state”.

When asked about the failure of Santwana Harish Yojana, minister Ramesh said, “No project has failed but not implemented well. We have announced many projects but the beneficiaries do not benefit from them. There are a number of reasons, so we are planning to bring a health policy in which all the projects related to health will be brought together. Whoever is unable to pay the medical bill should be treated free of cost in the State. If any citizen in the state suffers and thinks that death is the only way out of his/her problems, it is a shame to our state. No citizen should be deprived of the medical facilities. Health is the basic right of every citizen of the state”, he added.

When asked about the Cauvery water row, and the failure of the state government where even the senior congress leader Janardhan Poojary blames the government. Ramesh said, “It is the decision of the court and we have accepted the Supreme court order as final, there is no court above the Supreme court. When the supreme court has given the interim order we cannot go against it. We have to accept the decision of the supreme court. At present the Supreme court has given the interim order, it is a question of the Unity of the country. Instead of thinking about winning and losing we need to think of our country as one, the safety and well-being of all the people in the country”.

Karnataka is the main applicant in Cauvery water case and the hearing will is on September 20. Until then the Supreme court has ordered to release 12,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu. If the state government goes against the Supreme court order what will be the fate of our country? Where will the law and order situation lead? We need to accept the interim order of the Supreme court and present our case for reconsideration.
