Cauvery Water Row: Real Face of BJP Revealed – Minister Khader

Mangaluru: On Cauvery water row, the supreme court has given judgment, not justice. Under the leadership of Chief minister Siddarmaiah, an Legislative Session has been called which is an all-party meeting for which the BJP has refused to attend. This shows the real face of the BJP, said Minister UT Khader at a press meet held at the circuit house here on September 22.

People of the state are demanding to fight for justice on the Cauvery water issue but the BJP has refused to attend the Legislative Session. People of the state are crying for justice on the Cauvery water issue, the opposition should join hands to fight for this cause and show the world that we are united. The people of Tamil Nadu are united, but in Karnataka, the BJP is showing its real face to the world”, said the minister U T Khader.

Khader further said, “The Prime minister should come to our rescue, and he should call for a meeting by discussing with the concerned authorities, but he is not showing any concern. When Baluchistan asked for help, he was interested in helping them, why then is the PM not interested in helping the people of Karnataka? While delivering speeches the PM addresses as “Bhai Beheno”, but when there is a problem between bhai behen why is he not interested in serving justice? In Karnataka, we do not have sufficient water. He should call the minister of central water resources, get a report from him and give justice. Playing politics with issues related to water will not make the people of Karnataka happy. When someone gifted a watch to the CM there was hue and cry by the 18 opposition MPs. Where are they now?”.

When asked what Minister Kharge is doing in the centre, Khader said, “Kharge has spoken to Prime minister in this regard”.

Why did the state government not question the supreme court on its judgement, since the Supreme court does not have any part to play in matters of water dispute, Khader said, “Why did the prime minister not give an appointment to the Chief minister to discuss the issue? Why should the CM to go to Delhi, wait for the PM and come back without getting an appointment? On behalf of the people of the state, the government will take a decision on September 23. We have accepted the order of the Supreme court, we have applied for a modification and are waiting for the Judgement. The order has been given to trouble the people of Karnataka,”  said Khader.

When asked about Yeddyurappa’s comment on the September 21, all-party meeting in Bengaluru as only a repetition of old meeting, Khader said, “The all-party meeting is the sign of solidarity, the duty of the opposition is to take part in the Legislative Session and show our solidarity. Whatever they have said, they have realized that they have made a mistake”.

When questioned, whether there will be a mass resignation on the outcome of the meeting, Khader said, “Whatever decision the CM takes, we will follow him. We are ready for any sacrifice for the sake of the people of Karnataka”stressed Khader.
