Addressing the protesters Sunil Kumar Karkala MLA and Chief Whip of Legislative Assembly for Opposition said that, There are wide spread protests against the government’s decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanti this year. During one such event last year, voilence had erupted in several areas.

Tipu Sultan was responsible for the forceful conversion of a large number of Hindus and Christians. Unfortunately, the Congress government was trying to appease a particular community and garner votes, by celebrating Tipu Jayanti. Tipu Sultan was not a freedom fighter as being projected by a section of the society and the Congress government. Tipu Sultan was not only anti-Hindu, but anti-Kannada. There was wide spread protest against the government’s decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanti. By celebrating the Tipu Jayanthi Chief Minister Siddaramaiah becomes a modern Tipu Sultan of Karnataka.

After Congress government  came to power in the state many rapes and murder cases were reported in the state. The recent attacks on BJP and RSS workers have a lot of similarities with each other. The kind of weapons used and the plan of action in all these attacks were similar. The attacks appear to be a big conspiracy. Around 7 RSS workers and 12 BJP workers were killed in the last one year. As per recent news another BJP and RSS worker Shivaram Dongre were killed in Bidar.  There is the government’s hand behind the killing of RSS and BJP leaders. The State government should ban Tipu Jayanti and ensure that law and order prevails in the society,  he added.

State BJP women’s president Bharathi Mugdum, District BJP Chief Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, ZP vice president Sheela K Shetty, VHP District president Vilas Nayak also spoke on the occasion.
