Christmas 2014-God’s gift of Eternal Love & Peace to the World

Christmas is celebrated all over the world on  December 25, every year. Christians celebrate this great festival, the Birthday of Lord Jesus Christ with great love and devotion to God all over the world. Christmas is simply the Nativity or birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. The word that existed from all eternity without beginning and end, became flesh, in the womb of Mary, His Mother. This flesh is the Christ-child Messiah that transformed the entire universe through His birth (Jhn 1:1, 9-14). Out of great love to His people God sent His only Son to this world to be born as we humans through Holy Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit in Bethlehem as the Scripture says and St. Joseph took care of Jesus and Mary as foster Father.

God showed His love through the incarnation of His son Jesus Christ. Jesus was born in a stable as the Gospel of Luke recounts ?because there was no room for them in the inn (Lk 2:7). Mary His mother and Joseph foster father had not found a welcome in any house in Bethlehem. Mary had to lay the Savior of the world in a Manger, the only cradle available for the Son of God made man, this is the reality of the Lord?s Nativity.

Thus the birth of the Messiah in the central event in the history of humanity. The whole human race was awaiting this to happen. The chosen people of God awaited it with explicit awareness. A tender child is born fully human but at the same time the only begotten son of the Father. He is the Son not made, but eternally begotten son of one being with the Father. He is the Word? through whom all things were made (Jn 1:3) we shall always acknowledge the amazing grace which the Lord?s mercy bestows on us. God?s love for us has been revealed. His love and grace and faithfulness, mercy and truth! By setting us free from the darkness of sin death, he has become the firm and unshakable foundation of hope of every human being. The redeemer is born for us and for all people, a gift of Salvation.
How unsearchable deep is the mystery of the incarnation! In the mystery of Christmas is fully reflected the truth of the God?s plan of salvation for man and for the world. It was this very song of praise which resounded with solemn magnificence over the poor stable at Bethlehem, ?Glory to God in the Highest and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased (Lk 2:14). Yes, His birth testifies once and for all that in Him every man is included in the mystery of God?s love which is the source of definitive peace. Yes peace to humanity.

Therefore we need to approach this Christmas professing our faith in Christ ever more faithfully, God from God, Light from Light, and True God from True God. It is because of this mystery human history is no longer left to decay but has a meaning and a direction. It has in a way go to eternity. The consoling promise of Christ made to His disciples resound for everyone. ?Look I am with you always to the end of Times?) Mt. 28:20). Let us pray that all humanity will come to know in the Son of Mary born in Bethlehem, the Redeemer of the world who brings us the gift of love and peace. Christmas leads us to contemplate Jesus Christ as the end point  of time preceding Him and the starting point of all that follows Him.

Indeed He wrote a  new History not only for those who believe in Him but for the entire Human community because the salvation He accomplished and offered Himself to every human being. In Christ every man and woman is included in the mystery of God?s love, the source of everlasting love and peace ?Behold I bring to you good news of great joy to you is born this day , a Savior who is Christ the Lord (Lk2:10-11).
Referring to Christ?s birth and quoting form prophet Isaiah, the Gospel of Mt. refers to Jesus as Emmanuel which means God is with is? (Mt. 1:23). At the end of Mathew?s Gospel, the Risen Jesus tells His disciples, ?And remember I am with you always to the end of the age. (Mt. 28:20). We are reminded ?To all who received Him, He gave power to become children of God (Jn 1:12) Jesus Christ is always with us to help us face the reality of any darkness. Have we listened to His voice?

Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide with me (Jn 15:4). It is our faith filled with response to His voice alone that will help us in any darkness. Then, we will always be able to sing with the Heavenly chores ?Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom He favors (Lk 2:14).

Let us accept Jesus to dwell in our hearts today specially during this Christmas 2014. Merry Christmas to all.
