Coast Guard Celebrate National Integration Week 19-25 November

Mangaluru: Headquarters, No. 3 Coast Guard District Karnataka is celebrating ‘Qaumi Ekta Week (National Integration Week)’ across all its facilities within the state of Karnataka from 19 Nov to 25 Nov 2018 with a view to foster and reinforce the spirit of Communal Harmony, National Integration and pride in vibrant, composite culture and nationhood.

 The celebrations at Headquarters located at Mangalore began with a special programme titled ‘Theme of Secularism, Anti-Communalism and Non-violence’ which was inaugurated by DIG SS Dasila, TM the Commander Coast Guard Karnataka on 19 Nov 2018. During the course of the ‘Qaumi Ekta Week’, a number of programmes such as Symposiums, Seminars, Workshop etc. based on the themes of secularism, anti-communalism and non-violence are being organized.

Special programme was organized on 22 Nov 2018 at Headquarters located at Panambur wherein eminent achievers form society spoke at a workshop on ‘Qaumi Ekta Week’. Ms Giselle Mehta, President of the Association of Retired Officers of Customs, Central Excise and GST articulated her talk on values and role of Women as entrepreneurship in nation building. As an women entrepreneur she has been a business person, she is proprietrix of Allgrow Ventures and a Director of Allegro Ventures India Pvt Ltd. The persona of Giselle Mehta embodies facets of the creative and intellectual life. She made a noteworthy debut as a novelist with the publication of “Blossom Showers” in 2011.

Ms Archana, Manager Airport Operations and Customer Service for Indigo spoke on role of women in the family and society and women empowerment. She gave emphasis on women being pioneers of nation and key to sustainable development and quality of life in family and value integration social life as variety of role play assumed by her. Ms Ruby Agarwal, Chairperson of Pandit Health Resort & Spa at Moodbidri spoke on protection of natural resources which are features of environment that are important and value of to human in one form or other.

Speaking on the occasion DIG Dasila highlighted the importance of maintaining national integrity in the country. He said that the feeling of unity amongst all citizens is vital for the growth and stability of our nation. At workshop all were administered the National Integration Pledge to work with dedication to preserve and strengthen the freedom and integrity of the nation, to never resort to violence and to continue to endeavour towards settlement of all differences and disputes relating to religion, language, region or other political or economic grievances by peaceful and constitutional means.

The first day of the week was observed as “National Integration Day” followed by “Welfare of Minorities Day” on 20 Nov, “Linguistic Harmony Day” on 21 Nov where programmes like special literary functions organised to enable CG personnel of different faith to appreciate the linguistic heritage of India while 22 Nov observed as “Weaker Sections Day”. Cultural Unity Day will be observed on 23 Nov and Women’s Day on 24 Nov 2018. The last day of the ‘Qaumi Ekta Week’ will be observed as “Conservation Day” on 25 Nov. The programme was co-ordinated by Comdt RK Sharma and Dy Comdt Deepika Dhiman.
