Congress creating anarchy, working against national interest, claims BJP in Chitradurga march

Chitradurga (Karnataka):  Karnataka BJP senior leaders on Wednesday alleged that the Congress was working against the country’s interests and attempting to create anarchy.

The BJP on Wednesday intensified its campaign against the Congress in Karnataka by organising a foot march in Chitradurga under the slogan, ‘Save Democracy, Eradicate Anarchy’.

BJP National General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Harish Dwivedi, MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol, and former Minister B. Sriramulu participated in the foot march.

Addressing party workers, Dwivedi alleged that the Congress was disrespecting constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the Supreme Court, particularly during polls.

He alleged that the Congress had never worked in national interest and had opposed initiatives related to the country’s development and national causes.

Taking a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Dwivedi said the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha carried a copy of the Constitution wherever he went.

“Once, when the copy of the Constitution he was carrying fell down, it had blank pages inside,” Dwivedi alleged.

He also alleged that the Congress had opposed the construction of the Ram Temple and insulted great personalities of the country.

Dwivedi described the government in Karnataka as anti-people and said the party’s defeat in the recent Legislative Council elections reflected public opinion. He expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in Karnataka in the 2028 Assembly elections.

Karjol said the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was not being conducted in the country for the first time, noting that the exercise had been carried out 12 times in the past, including 10 times during Congress governments.

He accused Rahul Gandhi of attempting to create anarchy in the country and alleged that the Congress was engaging in anti-Constitutional activities by opposing the judiciary and questioning the work of the Election Commission.

Karjol also accused the Congress of spreading misinformation about the NEET examination and the electoral system by raising allegations of paper leaks and vote theft.

Former Minister B. Sriramulu alleged that the Congress was working to create anarchy in the country and maintained that the BJP was fighting to protect democracy and the Constitution.

He recalled the Emergency imposed by late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975, alleging that it was imposed to protect her position rather than due to any national emergency.

“India was kept in darkness for 21 months during the Emergency,” Sriramulu alleged.

He said several leaders, including Jayaprakash Narayan, and journalists were jailed during the Emergency and alleged that the Constitution was amended several times during the Congress rule.

“The Congress party amended the Constitution 75 times while it was in power,” he alleged.

BJP state President B.Y. Vijayendra, along with party leaders, legislators, members of the Legislative Council and workers, participated in the programme.
