Congress to Hold ‘Karavali Dhwani Yatra’ from Feb 5 – R V Deshpande

Mangaluru: “The Congress party will hold the ‘Karavali Dhwani Yatra’ from February 5. The Yatra will be flagged off in the Coastal region starting from Sullia Constituency on February 5. From February 6 to 9 the yatra will be held in Moodbidri, Kaup, Kundapur and Sringeri. The Yatra will start in two phases, the first phase of the Yatra will start from 5 to 10 February and the second phase of the Yatra will start from 16 Feb to 10 March. The Yatra will be covering all the 26 assembly constituencies in the state”, said Congress leader R V Deshpande in a press meet held at the Congress Bhavan here on February 3.

Addressing the media persons, Deshpande said, “During the Yatra, we will take the opinion of the Congress leaders and party workers, and the same will be sent to the high command. Great leaders from the coastal region have contributed a lot to the development of the country. Today, I heard that Infoysis has closed one of its Units in Mudipu. Many industries are closing and that is not good news. The tourism industry is also not growing. The tourism industry is huge and has good potential. The BJP is busy collecting commission, they are not bothered about the welfare of the people”.

Deshpande further said, “In our country, 5 crore youth are unemployed and the government has not taken any initiative to create jobs. There is no control over the rising prices. We are committed to the development of the Coastal districts. The BJP government is not giving priority to eliminating poverty, unemployment and inflation. For the past four years, they have not taken any initiative for the development of the country, they have no right to ask for votes”.

When asked why Dr Parameshwar’s resignation as the Chairman of the KPCC Manifesto Committee, Deshpande said, “I strongly refute it. Just now I spoke to him and he did not mention about it. Politicians are not always satisfied. Many have ambitions and when they don’t get whatever they want, they get upset”.

When asked about withdrawing the protest against the Statement of Sharan Pumwell, District Congress President Harish Kumar said, “We did not hold any protest against Sharan Pumpwell but the protest is against the derogatory speeches of the State and National leaders of the BJP and some of them insisting the youth to have weapons. For the time being, we have postponed the protests, in the coming days we will decide on holding the protest”.

When asked about the delay in announcing the names of the candidates, Deshpande said, “We did not delay in announcing the names of the candidates. We will announce the names of the candidates at the right time”.

Former Minister and MLA of Ullal Constituency U T Khader, MLC Manjunath Bhandary, former MLAs Ramanath Rai and J R Lobo, Congress leader B K Hariprasad, Mamatha Gatti, former MLC Ivan D’Souza, P V Mohan and Corporator Naveen D’Souza were also present.
