COVID- 19, MCC issues Guidelines to Hotels, Malls, Gyms, Apartments and PGs
Mangaluru: To take the preventive measures to control the spread of COVID – 19, the Mangaluru City Corporation has issued guidelines to Supermarkets, Paying Guest accommodations/hostels, Hotels, Gyms/ Parks, Residential apartments and for the general public.
Speaking to the mediapersons Mayor Diwakar said, “Every corporator should create awareness in the prevention of the spread of COVID- 19 in their respective wards. Pamphlets have already been released and will be put on the buses, private vehicles and public places. Hoarding will be erected at important places.”
Speaking to the mediapersons MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Shanadi said, “I would like to appreciate the efforts of the media in bringing to the notice about the special drive to vacate all the street food joints. We have already issued various guidelines to Supermarkets, Paying Guest accommodations/hostels, Hotels, Gyms/ Parks, Residential apartments and the general public. People should follow the government guidelines and co-operate in containing the spread of the Coronavirus.”
Ajith Kumar further said, “The government has already declared holiday for educational institutions. Those running the PGs and Hostels should send the students to their hometown. If the students are willing to remain in the PGs or Hostels the concerned authorities should follow the guidelines of the government. Only two students are allowed to stay in a 110 sq ft room”.
Ajithkumar also said, “Hot water should be served to the customers in hotels and the staff should wear hand gloves and mask while working. cleanliness should be maintained at all times. Tables should be cleaned with bleaching powder. All the public programmes should be cancelled in residential areas. Gyms, Swimming pools, clubs and sports facilities should be closed. Summer vacation courses should be cancelled. Hygiene should be maintained in the lifts and closed places.”
Those who have a cough should close their mouth while coughing. Intake of vegetables, fruits and nutritious food will help to increase the immunity against the disease. Avoid eating outside, eat home-cooked food. Always drink boiled water”, advised Ajith Kumar.
Later pamphlets were put on buses and other vehicles at Lalbagh as part of the special drive to create awareness about the Coronavirus.
