COVID-19, Suspension of Congregational Prayers in Mosques till May 31

  • Suspension of Congregational Prayers (Salat), Jumatul-Vida, Taraweeh, Shab-e-Qadr and Salat-ul-Eid-ul-Fitr in the Masajid, Dargahs and Eidgahs due to COVID-19 pandemic until May 31 on account of extension of lockdown

Bengaluru: The Government of India has issued orders cited under Ref (1) above, stating that all religious places/places of worship shall be closed for public. Religious congregations are strictly prohibited due to the outbreak of COVID-19 across the country.

The Secretary to Government, Minority Welfare Haj, and Waqf Department had issued orders cited under Ref (3) regarding the suspension of Congregational prayers at the Masajid and Dargahs and guidelines for Ramadan month.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, more than one lakh infected persons and more than 3000 deaths have left a large number of bereaved families, apart from the bread earning members, women, and children have been quarantined. The problem of the mobility of lakhs of migrant labourers across the country, Pandemic has rendered the people jobless and loss of income from the traditional business. Most of Indian society has plunged into agony and misery. The Muslims have restrained themselves from offering the Congregational prayers including Jumma and Taraweeh in the Masajid during the Holy month of Ramadan and have contributed for containment of the spread of the virus. In order to express solidarity to the grieving families and for the manifestation of universal brotherhood the Muslims are required to celebrate the ensuing Eid-ul-Fitr with utmost simplicity, spirituality and with a sense of seeking the blessings of the Almighty for the eradication of the virus and well being of the entire humanity.

Further order cited under Ref (1) above dated May 17, the lockdown has been extended until May 31. In view of the above and in continuation of the orders referred, the congregational prayers of the Ramadan during Jumatul-Vida, Taraweeh, Shab-e-Qadr and Salat-ul-Eid-ul-Fitr needs to be suspended in the Masajid, Dargahs and Eidgahs for public till May 31.

Hence, the following order No: KSBA/ADM/21/2016-17 Dated May 20:
In view of the facts stated in the preamble, it is hereby directed that the Managements of all the Masajid, Dargahs, and Eidgahs in the State shall follow the earlier Circulars/OM’s/Orders stating that All Religious places/places of worship shall be closed
