It has demanded that both those who executed the crime and those who gave the contract for killing be nabbed and brought to book.

The statement has stressed that the RTI activists were aiming at eradicating the social ills. By getting these persons eliminated, the evil forces in the society meant to cover up their own misdoings. The police should not allow it to happen, the statement said.

It has also pointed out that there were reports floating around that some builders, real estate entrepreneurs, owners of educational institutions, heads of religious institutions and banks were linked to the murder. This had to be seriousley investigated into, the statement said.

In the meantime, a prominent elected leader has taken objection to Naresh Shenoy’s name being dragged in and also his being referred to as ‘the prime suspect’ in the case.

He has drawn the attention of the public to the fact that Naresh Shenoy’s name did not find any mention in the official police website until now.

Hence in the interest of his right to individual privacy, he should not be wrongly cited in the case.

But enquiries with the police revealed that non-inclusion of Shenoy’s name at this point could be a strategic move aimed at safeguarding the progress of the investigations.

On condition of anonymity, they said that two teams from the city police have travelled to Goa and Andaman to track down Naresh Shenoy.

Besides, they are also on the lookout for Shrikant (40), residing near Shantinagar ground in Kavoor, and Shiva (21), of Urundadigudde in Panjimogaru village, through whom the contract for the killing was given.
