DC Jagadeesh Raids Rice Mill in Shiriyara, Illegally stocked 600 Qunitals of PDS Rice Seized

Udupi: The Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District G Jagadeesh along with the officials of the Department of Food, Civil Services and Consumer Affairs raided a rice mill in Shiriyara and seized about 600 quintals of illegally stored rice meant for distribution to the people through the Public Distribution System (PDS) and also vehicles used for transporting the rice.

After getting reliable information about the PDS rice being illegally stocked at a rice mill in Shiriyara, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh along with the officials and the police personnel raided the rice mill at Shiriyara and seized 600 quintals of rice worth of Rs 16.5 lakhs.

The team also seized six trucks, two 407 vehicles, Tata 909 vehicles and a Maruti Eeco vehicle used to transport the rice.

  1. Dear DR. Jagdeesha, it is great that trucks are seized and may be poor drivers are arrested, for no fault of theirs. They are only carrying out instructions from ” Bosses ” . So it is pertinent who are these bosses? from where did the rice arrive and where is is going? Who are the king pins in it, is what you need to check and punish.
    We are all aware that ration rice, Annabhagya rice is being misused, sold at a higher rate etc. But authorities have never taken any action against the culprits. So people start loosing trust in authorities and others in charge. Unless these shops, go downs and operators have a strong backup these operations are impossible to happen.Find out the backup, back bones and behind the screen players & take appropriate action. So that poor can get what they deserve and thus eliminate food shortage.!!
