Delhi Police catch two snatchers in act; three stolen phones, motorcycle recovered

New Delhi:  The Anti-Snatching Cell of the Delhi Police’s South-West District branch arrested two snatchers and recovered a mobile phone snatched from a taxi driver, along with two other stolen mobile phones and the motorcycle used in the crime, officials said on Wednesday.

The accused were identified as Sunil, 27, a resident of Mukherjee Nagar, and Pramod, 32, a resident of Sangam Vihar, Delhi.

According to Delhi police, a team of the Anti-Snatching Cell was conducting patrols in the area when personnel noticed two men riding a motorcycle from Ring Road towards Dhaula Kuan.

While crossing a CNG station, the duo snatched the mobile phone of a taxi driver who was standing near the roadside and attempted to flee.

The incident was noticed by Head Constables Amit and Kapil, who were patrolling nearby. The police personnel immediately chased the suspects and managed to apprehend both of them at the spot, police said.

The snatched mobile phone was recovered from their possession.

Following their arrest, an FIR was registered under Sections 304(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at R.K. Puram Police Station.

During the subsequent investigation, police recovered two additional mobile phones allegedly stolen from areas under the jurisdiction of R.K. Puram and South Campus police stations.

Police said Pramod has previously been involved in four criminal cases, including cases related to snatching, rape and grievous hurt.

The total recovery includes one motorcycle used in the commission of the crime and three mobile phones.

The arrests have also helped police work out three cases, including FIR No. 205/2026 under Sections 304(2) and 3(5) of the BNS at R.K. Puram Police Station, e-FIR No. 80010914/2026 under Section 303 of the BNS at R.K. Puram Police Station and e-FIR No. 80055460/2026 under Section 303 of the BNS at South Campus Police Station.

Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
