Dharmasthala Police Seize House Linked to Illegal Cattle Transport Case in Belthangady
Belthangady: In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into illegal cattle transport, the Dharmasthala Police have seized a residence allegedly linked to one of the accused involved in transporting cattle for the purpose of slaughter. The action was taken in connection with a case registered earlier this month.
On November 2nd, law enforcement officials intercepted a Ritz car, bearing the registration number KA-19-MC-5862, on Patturu Road in Patrame village. The vehicle was allegedly being used to illegally transport three cows, purportedly destined for slaughter. Authorities apprehended two individuals at the scene: Ibrahim Khalil, also known as Tausif, a 38-year-old resident of Sajipanadu in Ullal taluk, and Mohammad Sinan, aged 25.
Following the interception, a formal case was registered at the Dharmasthala Police Station. The charges levied against the individuals fall under Sections 5 and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act, 2020, as well as Section 11(1)(D) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. In addition to the two individuals arrested, Zohar, a resident of Patturu village, was also implicated as allegedly being the provider of the cattle.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the accused had purportedly planned to slaughter the cattle at Tanchibettu, Sajipanadu, specifically at the residence of Ibrahim Khalil alias Tausif. Based on this information, the Dharmasthala Police executed a seizure of the accused’s house on November 4th. The seizure is intended to facilitate further investigation and potential legal proceedings related to the case.
Authorities have indicated that the investigation into the illegal cattle transport and related activities remains active and ongoing. Law enforcement agencies are committed to pursuing all leads and ensuring that those involved in such illegal activities are brought to justice.
