Do not Release Water to TN, Poojary ready to go to Jail

Mangaluru: “The Supreme court is giving orders one after another to release water to Tamil Nadu. Today the supreme court has ordered to release 6000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu till October 6. Why is the Supreme court creating problems for Karnataka? All know that the people of Karnataka are facing drinking water problems but the Supreme court is blindly giving orders to release the water. I say that the Karnataka government should not release water to Tamil Nadu. I am ready to go to jail, for the sake of 6 crore people of Karnataka Poojary is ready to go to jail”, said senior congress leader B Janardhan Poojary in a press meet held at the Kudroli Temple premises, here on September 30.

Addressing the mediapersons Poojary said, “We do not know why the Supreme Court is giving orders. We are not against the Supreme court and we do not want to go against the Supreme court. After knowing that there is no water to drink for the people of Karnataka, why then is the Supreme court is ordering to release water to Tamil Nadu. We are not in a situation to release water denying it to our people, in this regard the Supreme court should not give such orders”.

“Tamil Nadu has water, there is water even in the Mettur dam which is enough not only for drinking but also for agriculture. The Tamil Nadu government is demanding water from Karnataka to be used for agriculture. By September 30, in Karnataka, the monsoon season will end and in Tamil Nadu, it will begin. Justice should be done with everyone. We have the Judiciary to do justice, and it should not make any mistake”, stressed Poojary.

Poojary further said, “In Karnataka, during the all-party meeting members have decided not to release water to Tamil Nadu but the court had ordered to release water. If there is water we would have given it, but we do not have water! Now the Judiciary should tell us what to do? The government of Karnataka nor the people have not said that we will not release water. While passing the order the Supreme court should analyze the situation in Karnataka. Such a situation did not come to Karnataka till now. We are hurt by the decision of the Supreme court. There is God to save us, the Judiciary is not above God. I am giving this statement to the media. Let the Judiciary take action against Poojary, I am ready to go to Jail for the sake of the 6 crore people of Karnataka.

Poojary further said, “There is news that Jayalalitha is in critical condition and the doctors are treating her. But why is the governor not revealing about her health? It is the duty of the governor to inform the people about the health of the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. If her condition is critical why is she was not taken to Singapore for treatment? Why are the doctors of Apollo Hospital not speaking about her health? Governor, please open your mouth and tell the truth about the health condition of Jayalalitha, tell us what has happened to the CM of Tamil Nadu”.

When asked if the order will not be implemented by the state government what is the recourse, Poojary said, “Do not release the water to Tamil Nadu. The Supreme court has given a shocking order against the Karnataka government. To save the rivers in Karnataka, we need to stop releasing the water”.

When asked if water will not be released it is not contempt of court and will not the Chief Secretary be arrested? Poojary said, “We cannot release the water as there is no water to drink. Let the chief secretary go to jail, even Poojary is ready to go to Jail. On September 29, a meeting was held under the leadership of Uma Bharati, our CM was present but from Tamil Nadu a PWD minister attended. Uma Bharati said that the ministers from both states should discuss the situation and solve it. The Supreme court has ordered to release 6000 cusecs water to Tamil Nadu for 6 days, after that what will happen. All the rivers in Karnataka will dry up and we will face drought”.
