Dr Krithi Karanth of CWS Wins WINGS WorldQuest Women of Discovery Award 2019

Dr Krithi Karanth, the Chief Conservation Scientist of Centre for Wildlife Studies (CWS)-Bengaluru Wins WINGS WorldQuest Women of Discovery Award 2019

Bengaluru: WINGS WorldQuest Women of Discovery Award honoured four extraordinary women: Dr Krithi Karanth, Dr Laly Lichtenfeld, Dr Mandë Holford, and Dr Darlene Lim. On behalf of CWS, we are delighted to announce that Dr Krithi K. Karanth has been awarded the WINGS WorldQuest Women of Discovery Award 2019 for Conservation. The ceremony took place at Scandinavia House in New York City, US, on 23rd April.

Dr Karanth was honoured for her 21 years of research and conservation contributions to saving wildlife and wild places in India. Three more awardees, Dr Mandë Holford, Dr Darlene Lim, and Dr Laly Lichtenfeld were honoured for their contributions to Humanity, Air & Space, and Conservation, respectively. The WINGS WorldQuest board received 120 nominations which were screened over a period of six months. These four bold women were chosen out of them.

The awardees met with WINGS WorldQuest board members on 23rd April. “This award by WINGS WorldQuest recognizes extraordinary women scientists and explorers,” said Dr Karanth. “I am deeply honored to join these 87 passionate, persistent, creative, and resilient women. Especially significant is that WINGS has an award for conservation.”
