Drawing Competition to commemorate the 43rd Indian Coast Guard Raising Day

 

Mangaluru: To commemorate the 43rd Indian Coast Guard Raising Day falling on 01 Feb 2019, Headquarters, Coast Guard District (Karnataka) organized Drawing Competition in co-ordination with Amrita Vidyalayam, Boloor, Mangalore on 28 January 2019. The event was conducted at School Complex wherein students from various prestigious schools of Mangaluru i.e. Amrita Vidyalayam, Yenopoya School, Sharada Vidyalaya, St Aloysius Gonzanga School, NITK, Canara School, KV Panambur, Delhi Public School and Infant Jesus Higher Primary School had participated.

Indian Coast Guard has been organizing several activities / events every year to commemorate its raising day. All Coast Guard events aim to spread messages of social harmony, brotherhood and unity among the Indian nationals. The Drawing Competition was based on the theme of My India-My Pride, Marine Life and Indian Coast Guard to help children revisit the building fibre of our strong democratic country through their ignited minds, dexterity, paper, pencil and vivid colours.

The drawing competition received overwhelming response and more than 200 children participated in the event. Culmination of the event was marked with prize distribution ceremony, wherein best three paintings in five categories were awarded with medals and certificates. The first prize in groups I, II, III, IV, V was awarded to Miss Hansika, Canara Urva School; Master Akshaj, NITK School; Master Ayush Y, Canara Urva School; Miss Anaya H, Canara High School; Master Shreenidhi, Amritya Vidayalayam School respectively. All other participants were bestowed with a certificate of participation for their excellent work.

The event was inaugurated by DIG SS Dasila, TM, the Commander, Coast Guard Karnataka and Smt Anupama, Vice Principal of Amrita Vidyalayam and other distinguished guests from various schools and state agencies witnessed the event. The Commander stated, “Art is essential to Human Life; and reiterated that Pablo Picasso had said that the Problem is only how to remain an artist once we grow up from our childhood as Every child is an artist. Further, Dasila added the young minds should express themselves by the use of colours and sketches as you draw is a reflection of how you feel about the world. You’re not capturing it, you’re interpreting it and we must encourage them to express their thoughts and flourish. A motivational movie on Indian Coast Guard was screened to all the participants.
