“I want to talk about Nagaland,” Modi said addressing 50,000 cheering expatriate Indians at the Dubai Cricket Stadium here on the second day of his two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“Less than a month ago, we moved ahead successfully with different factions of Nagaland after 60-70 years of insurgency (in that northeastern state),” Modi said referring to the peace accord signed on August 3 between the government and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah).

“I am citing Nagaland because I want to tell people across the world, including the youth, that however complicated a problem might be, it can be solved through dialogue,” he said.

The UAE is home to around 2.6 million expatriate Indians and Modi’s visit is the first by an Indian prime minister in 34 years.

Dubai, Aug 17 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday got a cheering crowd of 50,000 Indians to give a standing ovation to Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his gesture in giving land for a temple for Indians.

“I give my heartfelt thanks to the crown prince and the UAE and Dubai rulers for the gesture,” Modi said to the cheering crowd.

“On the one hand there is terrorism in the name of religion, and innocents are killed; and at such a time of concern, the crown prince has given land in Abu Dhabi for a temple for the Indians,” he said.

“The people who know Abu Dhabi, they realise that the decision is of such importance. All Indians should thank him. I appeal to you all people to thank him with a round of applause for the gesture, and give a standing ovation to the Crown Prince,” he said.

Dubai: India proud of expatriates: Narendra Modi

Dubai, Aug 17 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India was proud of expatriate Indians settled and working in the UAE.

“You are the people who have worked hard… some for 10 years, some for 20 years and some for 30 years. You are not only earning your living, but also making India proud,” Modi said addressing thousands of expatriate Indians here.

He said that due to the good behaviour and hard work of the expatriate Indians, India was proud.

Modi said the Indians settled in the Gulf were always worried about their home country.

“Even if it rains a little more in India, then the Indian living in Dubai, opens his umbrella. In times of natural disaster, the Indian in Dubai can’t sleep properly.”

“When the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government conducted nuclear tests, some people were angry and there were sanctions put on India.

“Then Vajpayee appealed to Indians across the world to help India. And today I feel proud to say that after his appeal, the blue collar workers in the Gulf had made the biggest contribution.”

  1. We expected him to speak like a statesman, he spoke like a politician by blaming the previous govts.,. We expected him to speak direct, he was instead circastic by taunting at neigbours and political opponents. We expected him to speak the truth, instead he spoke lies by claiming 65 years of progress as if it is his achievement. End of the day, it will be foolish on our part to expect a DNA change in him. He will never change.

Yes, for it was for more than 40 years since marriage!

  2. Every little village and town in Bharatha has mosque and church. Still, rest of the world tries to lecture India on tolerance and minority rights. On the other hand, UAE finally decides to give a small piece of land to build a Hindu temple and it is seen as biggest progressive move by fake secular groups and media. As Bill Maher puts it, this is the soft bigotry of low expectations!!!!

On a separate note, I have to give five stars to our Pradhaana Sevaka for his sincere efforts to promote brand India. I can only wish we had more leaders with so much passion and love towards Bharatha. Unfortunately, religious bigots can not appreciate anything beyond their own religion. For proof, read posts from Sharia, Roy, Manga etc.

You say giving a small piece of land to build a Hindu temple is seen as biggest progressive move by fake secular groups and media.

BUT YOUR MODI MADE IT A BIG ISSUE IN HIS LIVE TELECAST SPEECH. HE TOO IS FAKE SECULAR, ACCORDING TO YOUR ABOVE COMMENT!

PAIMAAM, IF MODI DOES SOMETHING, IT IS MOST APPLAUDABLE, IF THE SAME THING IS DONE BY OTHERS, IT IS DEPLORABLE!

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU, SIR. YOU REQUIRE TREATMENT AT ONCE!
