Eight IPS officers reshuffled at MP Police headquarters

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters has reshuffled the responsibilities of eight Indian Police Service (IPS) officers posted at the Police Headquarters.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Vineet Kapoor has been relieved of his charge as Personal Security Officer (PSO) to the Director General of Police (DGP) and assigned the dual responsibility of Cyber and Community policing, officials said on Wednesday.

DIG Awadhesh Kumar Goswami has been appointed as the new PSO to the DGP and has also been given additional charge of Narcotics.

According to the order issued by the Police Headquarters, the changes have come into effect immediately and will remain in force until further orders.

Awadhesh Kumar Goswami, a 2009-batch officer, has been shifted from the Welfare and Accounts department to take over as the DGP’s PSO.

Vineet Kapoor, a 2010-batch officer, will now handle Cyber and Community Policing.

Other officers have also been given new assignments.

DIG Santosh Singh Gaur (2009 batch) has been transferred from AJAK to the Police Training and Research Institute (PTRI).

DIG Tushar Kant Vidyarthi (2009 batch) has moved from PTRI to the special armed force Headquarters.

DIG Raghuvansh Kumar Singh (2012 batch), who was earlier posted at the police headquarters, has been assigned the Welfare and Accounts department.

At the Assistant Inspector General level, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Sai Krishna Thota (2014 batch) has been appointed AIG Cyber after being shifted from the police headquarters.

AIG Puneet Gehlod (2017 batch) has been given the charge of AIG Administration, while AIG Shashank (2019 batch) has been posted as AIG in the Special Branch.

All the officers have been directed to assume their new responsibilities with immediate effect.

The dual charge given to Awadhesh Kumar Goswami of both the DGP’s personal security and the Narcotics wing is expected to ensure closer coordination between security and anti-drug operations.

Officers have been instructed to take over their new responsibilities without delay so that ongoing investigations and administrative work remain uninterrupted.

The order applies across the listed portfolios until further directions are issued by the department.
