Ek  Aslyar, Ek Na! One Scooter tyre Intact, Other Missing

Mangaluru: Ek Aslyar, Ek Na!- (If one is there, one is missing!)-That’s right. This story is not about a movie, instead that of a incident I encountered yesterday. Me along with six other friends traveled to Kuloor on the outskirts of the City on three different scooters for a house-warming ceremony of one our friend. After the function which ended at around 3pm, we all decided to go to Tannirbhavi Beach, since the weather was perfectly right for a walk on the beach- sunny and breezy. We spent nearly two hours on the beach, taking a dip in the cool blue waters, and having some fun splashing water on each other.

Unfortunately, while we were having some fun in the water, some miscreants were having their fun by robbing the rear tyre of my Suzuki Swish 125 scooter, which I came to kinow when we returned back from the beach. When I got to my scooter, I was surprised to see that the rear tyre of my scooter was missing, and a punctured tyre was left beside it. Who could have this nasty thing was my first thought. While we were all trying to find the clue for this theft, a bunch of fishermen walked by. While me and my friends were desperately trying to find who might have done this act, the fishermen came to us asked what was the matter.
I explained to them the story, for which one of the fishermen quickly said, “Wait a minute, we just saw two guys a few blocks away fixing their rear tyre of their scooter, and they looked little kind of rowdy. Let’s go and have a look if they might have stolen your tyre. Probably they did, because they were nervous when they saw us walk by”. So we all walked a few blocks, and found out what the fisherman said was right. These two rowdies did steal my rear tyre, and were fixing it on their scooter, which also happened to be a Suzuki Swish 125 scooter.

Seeing us all the duo tried to escape, but these good Samaritans aka Mogaveeras were quick to grab both of them by their collars. When I was above to raise my hands on the  thieves, one of the fishermen said, “Sir, you don’t have to worry, we will take care of them. These two guys are laborers around here at the port, and we know they both have involved in other thefts in the past. You can go, we will handle them”. Saying thanks to these fishermen, we all left the scene, and immediately called for a mechanic to fix my scooter tyre.
While we were walking back, we noticed these fishermen thrashing the duo right and left.. after that I am not sure what they did with those two rowdies- whether they handed over them to the cops and left them after good thrashing. All I have to say to these Samaritans, a big thank you for lending a helping hand when we really needed it. May God bless these Mogaveeras!

  3. Dear Alfie,
Minor theft today and a major one tomorrow.
Was it not your duty to hand over these thief’s to the cops, after all you are from the media so you are the eyes and ears for them. You allowed someone else to take the law in thier hands.
    Good job.
