Addressing the gathering Capt Ganesh Karnik said, “On September 18, in the Uri terror attack 18 soldiers lost their lives and more than 30 were injured. Those 18 heroes sacrificed their lives, so that the entire nation can sleep in peace. Thousands of soldiers have laid down their lives while protecting the country and to make sure that we live peacefully. Our brave soldiers have sacrificed their lives while protecting us from our enemies. We salute all those brave souls who have laid down their lives for the country.

Bhandary said, “On September 18 a group of four terrorists, entered the administrative base at 12 mountain base in Uri and carried out the attack. It happened when the 6 Bihar regiment was replacing 10 Dogra regiment. The incoming troops were housed in tents, which are normally avoided in sensitive areas around LOC like Uri. The attackers sneaked into the camp breaching heavy security and seemed to know exactly where to strike. At the camp, some soldiers were resting nearby a petrol bunk where the terrorists threw 6 hand grenades blowing the petrol bunk and setting the entire camp on fire where the major casualties took place”.

He further said, “Who are supporting the terror activities? There is no doubt that this act has been done only by Pakistan. Action should be taken against Pakistan, we are all emotional, some action should be taken, be it political, diplomatic or military level. We are very confident that the present central government will act. They are, at the moment discussing the matter in Delhi. Some kind of a blueprint will be ready in one or two days. The military option is not the only option. There should be political and diplomat action. Pakistan will be isolated in the international arena and in future will refrain from supporting terrorists’.

Bhagwandas Shetty, Col Prem Kumar Shetty, Capt Deepak Adyanthaya, Purushotham, Monappa Bhandary, Manav Shetty and others were also present.
